About Me

Who Am I?

“I have not always chosen the safest path. I’ve made my mistakes, plenty of them. I sometimes jump too soon and fail to appreciate the consequences. But I’ve learned something important along the way: I’ve learned to heed the call of my heart. I’ve learned that the safest path is not always the best path and I’ve learned that the voice of fear is not always to be trusted.”

About me 2016

Hi my name is Jean Point Du Jour. I was born in Port Au Prince Haiti but I moved to the States when I was 5 to live with my aunt and uncle in Irvington, New Jersey. I moved in with my Father a year later and spent most of my time in Jersey until I went off to college. When I got offered a full ride to play football at the University of Maine, I packed my things and moved 8 hours away. I am currently studying Childhood Development and have about 2 more semesters to go Yay!

I’ve always imagined going to college and having “the college experience”, going out with friends on the weekends, meeting hundreds of new people, networking and finding myself. Although I got quite a bit of that I still felt that because of my obligations to football I was missing out on a lot more. So in late August of 2016, after 3 years of college football I decided to walk away from the sport and just be a regular student. Since then I have been through a lot, good, bad and ugly but I’ve learned so much in return.

I enjoy new experiences and doing things that are out of my comfort zone. Being a normal student allowed me to do just that! I have had to maintain 4  jobs to help me pay for all of my living expenses (rent, car issues and now tuition)  and although the pay isn’t exceptional,  the experiences I’ve gained from each job have been well worth it so far!

I started blogging for two reasons. First, I need a platform to vent and express myself. Second, I strongly believe that a lot of people might have similar experiences. I would like them to know that they are not alone and that they should follow there dreams. True happiness only occurs when you are in pursuit of your dreams. If you fail, at least you can say you tried but to not try at all is failure within it self.
